Product Specific Information

The eBio13A antibody reacts with mouse IL-13, a cytokine mainly produced by Th2 cells and antigen-primed CD8⁺ T cells. IL-13 is involved in allergic inflammation, parasite clearance, and tumor regulation. In humans, IL-13 plays a role in B cell isotype switching and modulates macrophage activity by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12).

• Intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested

• Tested on stimulated mouse splenocytes for intracellular staining.
• Recommended ≤ 1.0 µg/test; titrate for optimal performance.

Staining and Fixation Notes

• When using multiple polymer dye-conjugated antibodies, use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (SB-4401) or Brilliant Stain Buffer (00-4409-75) to minimize non-specific interactions.
• Light-sensitive: protect vial and stained samples from light.
• Compatible with short-term methanol fixation (<1 hour).
• Samples may be stored in IC Fixation Buffer (00-8222) or 1-step Fix/Lyse Solution (00-5333) for up to 3 days at 4°C in the dark.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced mainly by activated Th2 cells. It regulates inflammatory and immune responses by down-regulating macrophage activity and inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokine production. IL-13 is implicated in asthma, B cell maturation, and IgE isotype switching. The IL-13 gene is located in a cytokine cluster on chromosome 5q near IL4, IL3, IL5, and CSF2.
