Description:
The TRFK4 antibody reacts with mouse interleukin-5 (IL-5), also known as BCDF-alpha and eosinophil differentiation factor (EDF). This 15–20 kDa cytokine is secreted by Th2 cells and exists as a homodimer.
Applications Reported:
TRFK4 has been reported for use in detection of mouse IL-5 by ELISA.
Applications Tested:
The Biotin-conjugated TRFK4 has been tested by sandwich ELISA for detection of mouse IL-5 in combination with TRFK5 and can be used at 1 µg/mL. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
Purity: Greater than 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Aggregation: Less than 10%, as determined by HPLC.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
IL-5 is a cytokine that acts as a growth and differentiation factor for both B cells and eosinophils. It is a main regulator of eosinopoiesis, eosinophil maturation, and activation. Elevated IL-5 production is associated with asthma and hypereosinophilic syndromes.
The IL-5 receptor is a heterodimer whose beta subunit is shared with IL-3 and GM-CSF receptors. IL-5, IL-4, IL-13, and CSF2 form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5, regulated by long-range elements over 120 kb on chromosome 5q31.
