Target Information

Ribosomes are organelles that catalyze protein synthesis and consist of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit, composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 structurally distinct proteins.
The RPL28 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L28E family. It is located in the cytoplasm.
Variable expression of this gene has been observed in colorectal cancers compared to adjacent normal tissues, though no correlation with disease severity has been found.
Multiple processed pseudogenes of this gene are dispersed throughout the genome, and alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
