Target Information

IKBKE is an activator of nuclear factor-kappa-B (NF-κB).
Overexpression of IKBKE has been observed in breast cancer cells, and suppression of IKBKE induces cell death.
NF-κB is a transcription factor mediating gene expression during immune and inflammatory responses. It is regulated by IκB proteins, which are phosphorylated by the IKK complex (IKK-α, IKK-β, IKK-γ).
IKKε (IKBKE) is required for NF-κB activation by PMA and T cell receptors but not by TNF-α or IL-1.
IKK-iota/IKK-i expression is inducible by TNF-α, IL-1, and LPS.
