이 항체는 calyculin A로 처리한 human A7r5 및 mouse C2C12 세포의 면역블롯에서 약 135 kDa 크기의 mDia2 단백질을 검출합니다. 또한, calyculin A 처리 후 발현된 mDia2를 검출하지만, 인산분해효소 처리 후에는 반응성이 사라집니다. mDia2 (T1061A) 변이체는 검출하지 않습니다.

이 유전자는 formin 패밀리의 diaphanous 하위 패밀리에 속하는 단백질을 암호화합니다. 해당 단백질은 액틴 재배열에 관여하며 세포 이동성과 부착을 조절합니다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 상염색체 우성 청각 신경병증 1형과 관련이 있습니다. 다양한 이소폼을 암호화하는 여러 전사 변이체가 보고되었습니다.
