The MA5-11883-A555 immunogen is purified vimentin from pig eye lens.
Target Information
Vimentin is a developmentally regulated intermediate filament protein found in cells of mesenchymal origin. It is involved in intracellular protein transport between the nucleus and plasma membrane. During early development, vimentin is co-expressed with desmin and later replaced by tissue-specific intermediate filament proteins. Vimentin plays a role in steroid synthesis by regulating cholesterol-containing lipid droplets and their interaction with mitochondria through phosphorylation-mediated cytoskeletal changes.
