The MA5-11883-A647 immunogen is purified vimentin from pig eye lens.
Target Information
Vimentin is a developmentally regulated intermediate filament protein found in cells of mesenchymal origin. It is involved in intracellular protein transport between the nucleus and plasma membrane. During early cellular development, vimentin is co-expressed with desmin and later replaced by tissue-specific intermediate filament proteins. Vimentin also plays a role in steroid synthesis by facilitating cholesterol transport within cells through cytoskeletal rearrangements.
