Target Information
ErbB3 (c‑erbB‑3/HER‑3) is a member of the type I family of growth factor receptors and binds to ligands in the heregulin family.
It is overexpressed in various tumors including those of the prostate, bladder, breast, stomach, pancreas, and colon.
Heregulin and EGF stimulate tyrosine phosphorylation of c‑erbB‑3 to varying degrees.
The ErbB3 gene is located on chromosome 12q13 and encodes a 160/180 kDa glycoprotein.
ErbB3 forms heterodimers with other EGF receptor family members possessing kinase activity, leading to activation of pathways involved in cell proliferation or differentiation.
Alternative splicing produces several isoforms, including a secreted form that modulates the activity of the membrane‑bound receptor.
