Recombinant Human VEGF-B is a 38.0 kDa, disulfide-linked homodimeric protein consisting of two 167 amino acid polypeptide chains.

Target Information
Vascular endothelial growth factors (VEGFs) are a family of closely related growth factors with conserved cysteine residues and common VEGF receptors. They stimulate endothelial cells, induce angiogenesis, promote cell migration, increase vascular permeability, and inhibit apoptosis.
VEGFB has structural similarities to VEGF and PIGF and is frequently co-expressed with VEGF. Two alternatively spliced isoforms exist: VEGFB 167 (cell-associated, heparin-binding) and VEGFB 186 (secreted form).
VEGFB binds specifically to VEGFR1 (flt1) and not to VEGFR2. It is widely expressed, with high abundance in heart, skeletal muscle, and pancreas.
VEGFB expression has been linked to lymph node metastasis in human primary breast cancers. The VEGFB gene is mapped to chromosome 11q13.
