Target Information

The CETN3 gene encodes a protein containing four EF-hand calcium-binding domains and belongs to the centrin protein family. Centrins are evolutionarily conserved proteins similar to yeast CDC31, which localizes to the centrosome and plays a key role in centrosome duplication and separation.
Multiple human and mammalian centrin forms have been identified, with CETN3 being one of the most abundant at the centrosome, suggesting a similar function to its yeast counterpart.
Alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms of this gene.
