OXPAT은 지질 방울(lipid droplet) 관련 단백질로, 지방 합성과 분해의 균형을 유지하고 산화 조직에서 지방산 산화를 조절합니다. 미토콘드리아를 지질 방울 표면으로 유도하며, 지방산의 저장 및 방출을 조절하여 지질 방울 항상성 유지에 관여합니다.
또한 ABHD5, PNPLA2, LIPE 등 주요 지방분해 단백질의 스캐폴드 역할을 하며, PKA 인산화에 의해 ABHD5 및 LIPE와의 상호작용을 통해 지방분해를 촉진합니다.
