Target Information
BCL-2는 세포사멸(apoptosis)의 주요 조절 인자로, 세포 사멸을 억제하거나 촉진하는 기능을 수행합니다.
BCL-2 패밀리 단백질은 상호 이합체를 형성하여 세포사멸 조절을 정교하게 조절합니다. 예를 들어, Bag1은 BCL-2와 이합체를 형성하여 항세포사멸 효과를 강화합니다.
Bax와 Bak은 미토콘드리아에서 cytochrome c 방출을 유도하여 세포사멸을 개시하는 중요한 역할을 합니다.
BCL-2의 지속적 발현은 여포성 림프종(follicular lymphoma)과 같은 암의 원인으로 알려져 있으며, 이러한 종양에서는 BCL-2 단백질이 과발현됩니다.
두 가지 전사 변이체(transcript variants)가 존재하며, 이는 C-말단 부위에서 차이를 보입니다.
