Target Information
This gene belongs to the GRB2-associated binding protein (GAB) family. These proteins contain a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain and interact with SHP2 tyrosine phosphatase and GRB2 adapter protein. They function as adapters transmitting various signals in response to cytokines, growth factors, and antigen receptor stimulation in T- and B-cells. The encoded protein is a principal activator of phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase upon activation of the high-affinity IgE receptor. Two alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.
