Preparation:
Produced from sera of goats immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human NP-1. Anti-Human NP-1-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Human NP-1 by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required.
This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human NP-1 (500-P126G) as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human NP-1.

Western Blot:
To detect hNP-1 by Western blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL.
Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant hNP-1 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Defensins are a family of microbicidal and cytotoxic peptides involved in host defense. They are abundant in neutrophil granules and also found in mucosal epithelia such as the intestine, respiratory tract, urinary tract, and vagina.
Members of the defensin family share high sequence similarity and a conserved cysteine motif.
The protein encoded by this gene, defensin alpha 1, is found in neutrophil granules and likely plays a role in phagocyte-mediated host defense. Several alpha defensin genes are clustered on chromosome 8.
This gene differs from defensin alpha 3 by only one amino acid, and both are subject to copy number variation.
