Target Information
ArgRS (Arginyl-tRNA synthetase), also known as RARS or DALRD1, belongs to the class-I aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase family that includes LeuRS, ValRS, and IleRS. These large monomeric proteins catalyze the aminoacylation of tRNA by their cognate amino acid, ensuring fidelity in protein synthesis. ArgRS localizes in the cytoplasm and can form a multisubunit complex with other synthetases and auxiliary proteins. In the presence of ATP, arginine (Arg), and tRNA, ArgRS attaches Arg to tRNA(Arg) at its active site. Mammals express two cytoplasmic forms of ArgRS, differing by a 73 amino acid sequence necessary for complex assembly.
