Target Information
Plakophilin-3 is an Armadillo-like protein found in nuclei and desmosomes of epithelial cells. Its expression is largely restricted to epithelial cell types, showing punctate staining along cell borders typical of desmosomal proteins. Additionally, bright nuclear speckles are observed, indicating dual localization in desmosomal plaques and the nucleus. It may be involved in signal transduction between the plasma membrane and nucleus. The human protein has a predicted molecular mass of approximately 87 kDa.
