Product Specific Information

The RPA-T4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface receptor expressed on most thymocytes, a subpopulation of mature T cells (T-helper cells), and at low levels on monocytes. CD4 functions as a receptor for HIV, and RPA-T4 blocks HIV binding and mixed lymphocyte reaction. The RPA-T4 antibody recognizes a distinct epitope from the OKT4 antibody, and they do not cross-block each other.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Pre-diluted and validated for flow cytometry of normal human peripheral blood cells. Use 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test in a final 100 µL volume. Cell count range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Fluorophore Information:
Alexa Fluor 532 is excited with the Green laser (532 nm) and emits at 561 nm. Not compatible with the Yellow-Green laser (561 nm). Recommended filter: 560/14 band pass.

Target Information

CD4 is a co-receptor involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and serves as an HIV receptor. It is expressed on T helper cells, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Tissue expression includes thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain brain and gut regions. CD4 assists in T-cell activation through association with the T-cell receptor complex and protein tyrosine kinase Lck, and may contribute to neuronal damage in immune-mediated CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
