Target Information
The CDC27 protein shares strong similarity with Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc27 and Schizosaccharomyces pombe nuc2.
It is a component of the anaphase-promoting complex (APC), composed of eight conserved subunits in eukaryotic cells.
APC catalyzes the formation of cyclin B–ubiquitin conjugates responsible for ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis of B-type cyclins.
CDC27 and other APC components contain TPR (tetratricopeptide repeat) domains, important for protein–protein interactions.
This protein interacts with mitotic checkpoint proteins including Mad2, p55CDC, and BUBR1, and may regulate mitotic timing.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
