Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of CD3 zeta only when phosphorylated at Tyr142.

Target Information

The CD3ζ complex plays a crucial role in transducing antigen-recognition signals into the cytoplasm of T cells and in regulating the surface expression of the TCR complex.
T cell activation through the TCR involves the cytoplasmic tails of CD3γ, CD3δ, CD3ε, and CD3ζ subunits. These subunits are structurally related members of the immunoglobulin superfamily encoded by closely linked genes on human chromosome 11.

Each CD3 subunit contains a double tyrosine-based motif that mediates association with cytoplasmic signal transduction molecules.
CD3 may be involved in TCR-induced growth arrest, cell survival, and proliferation. The CD3 antigen is present on 68–82% of normal peripheral blood lymphocytes, 65–85% of thymocytes, and Purkinje cells in the cerebellum, but is not expressed on B or NK cells.
Decreased percentages of T lymphocytes may be observed in certain autoimmune diseases.
Diseases associated with CD3ζ include Immunodeficiency 25 and T-B+ Severe Combined Immunodeficiency due to CD3δ/CD3ε/CD3ζ defects.
