Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of Caveolin 2 only when phosphorylated at Tyr27.
Target Information
Caveolae are specialized domains of the plasma membrane involved in the sequestration of lipid and protein molecules. These organelles play key roles in lipid metabolism, growth regulation, signal transduction, and apoptosis.
Caveolin interacts with and regulates heterotrimeric G-proteins. The caveolin multigene family encodes 21–24 kDa integral membrane proteins that form the major structural component of caveolar membranes.
Caveolin-2 is abundantly expressed in fibroblasts, differentiated adipocytes, smooth and skeletal muscle, and endothelial cells. Its expression pattern is similar to Caveolin-1, while Caveolin-3 expression is limited to muscle tissues.
