This monoclonal antibody is directed against human SMC1 and recognizes the phosphorylated epitope in native and over-expressed proteins from various tissues and extracts.
Minimal reactivity is observed against the non-phosphorylated epitope.
Reactivity is observed against human and mouse SMC1.
Cross-reactivity with SMC1 from other eukaryotic sources has not been tested.
Target Information
Structural Maintenance of Chromosomes (SMC) family proteins are essential for nuclear processes requiring chromosome structural changes, including mitotic organization, DNA recombination and repair, and transcriptional repression.
SMC1 and SMC3 form a heterodimeric complex crucial for sister chromatid cohesion during metaphase.
Mutations in SMC1 can cause Cornelia de Lange syndrome 2.
