Target Information
The structure-specific ERCC1/XPF endonuclease complex is involved in the repair of two distinct types of DNA lesions:
- Nucleotide Excision Repair (NER) for UV-induced lesions and bulky chemical adducts
- Recombination Repair for genotoxic interstrand cross-links
In mammalian cells, XPG cleaves the 3′ side of the lesion, while ERCC1/XPF makes the 5′ incision.
ERCC1/XPF also likely participates in processing partially repaired recombination intermediates.
