Target Information
The RAD23B protein is one of two human homologs of Saccharomyces cerevisiae Rad23, which participates in nucleotide excision repair (NER). It complements the NER defect of xeroderma pigmentosum group C (XP-C) cell extracts and interacts with 3-methyladenine-DNA glycosylase (MPG), suggesting a role in DNA damage recognition. The N-terminal ubiquitin-like domain interacts with the 26S proteasome, indicating involvement in the ubiquitin-mediated proteolytic pathway.
