Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of p38 MAPK only when phosphorylated at Tyrosine 323.

Target Information

MAPK14 (p38 alpha) belongs to the stress-activated protein kinase (SAPK) class of MAPKs. The p38 MAPK cascade regulates cellular responses to stress, inflammation, and other stimuli.
p38 MAPK is inactive in its nonphosphorylated form and becomes rapidly activated by dual phosphorylation at Thr-Gly-Tyr motifs.
There are four isoforms of p38 MAPK, differing in tissue expression and affinity for regulators.
Upon exposure to TNF, IL-1, heat shock, or other stimuli, MAPK kinase-3/6 phosphorylates p38 MAPK at Thr180 and Tyr182, leading to activation.
Activated phospho-p38 MAPK subsequently phosphorylates transcription factors such as ATF-2, CHOP-1, and MEF-2.
