Product Specific Information
- Heat-mediated antigen retrieval using sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0) is recommended for paraffin section staining.
- Placenta is suggested as a positive control for immunohistochemistry.
- For FACS analysis, use 10 µL of the suggested working dilution to label 1×10^6 cells in 100 µL.
- Rat anti-Human CD59 antibody (clone YTH53.1) recognizes the human CD59 cell surface antigen, also known as MAC-inhibitory protein, 1F5 antigen, 20 kDa homologous restriction factor, MEM43 antigen, membrane attack complex inhibition factor, membrane inhibitor of reactive lysis, or protectin.
Target Information
CD59 (Protectin) is a small (18–20 kDa) GPI-anchored, ubiquitously expressed inhibitor of the membrane attack complex (MAC). It regulates complement cascade by preventing cytolytic pore formation in the plasma membrane. CD59 also acts as a low-affinity ligand of human CD2, contributing to T cell co-stimulation and lymphocyte signal transduction. Mutations in CD59 cause CD59 deficiency, leading to hemolytic anemia, thrombosis, and cerebral infarction. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been identified.
