Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a component of the 42 kDa complex I, the first enzyme complex in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. It exhibits NADH dehydrogenase and oxidoreductase activity, transferring electrons from NADH to the respiratory chain. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Leigh syndrome.
