Target Information
The ATP7B gene encodes a P-type cation transport ATPase with multiple membrane-spanning domains, an ATPase consensus sequence, a hinge domain, and copper-binding sites. It functions as a monomer to export copper from cells, including hepatic copper efflux into bile. Alternative splice variants produce isoforms with distinct localizations. Mutations in ATP7B are associated with Wilson disease (WD).
