Target Information

Tubulin family members are globular proteins essential for microtubule assembly. Microtubules are structural components involved in mitosis, cytokinesis, and vesicle transport.
TPPP (Tubulin polymerization-promoting protein), also known as p24 or p25, is a 219 amino acid protein localized in the perinuclear cytoplasm. It may form dimers and promotes tubulin polymerization into double-walled tubules or stabilized aggregates. Overexpression of TPPP disrupts mitotic spindle formation and nuclear envelope breakdown.
TPPP is phosphorylated by TPK II and encoded by a gene on human chromosome 5. It plays roles in microtubule polymerization, bundling, and stabilization, maintaining microtubule network integrity, and is involved in mitotic spindle assembly and nuclear envelope breakdown.
