This antibody detects endogenous levels of total COL15A1 protein.
Target Information
The COL15A1 gene encodes the alpha chain of type XV collagen, a member of the FACIT collagen family (fibril-associated collagens with interrupted helices). Type XV collagen is widely distributed in tissues, with the strongest expression in basement membrane zones, suggesting a role in adhering basement membranes to underlying connective tissue stroma.
The C-terminal fragment of type XV collagen, known as restin, is a potentially antiangiogenic protein related to endostatin. Mouse studies have shown that collagen XV deficiency is associated with muscle and microvessel deterioration.
