Product Specific Information
The monoclonal antibody 20B7 recognizes Sox10, a member of the Sox superfamily (SRY-related HMG-box) containing a DNA-binding high-mobility group domain and functioning as a transcription factor. Sox10 expression is initially localized to the developing neural crest and peripheral nervous system, later appearing in glial progenitors and mature oligodendrocytes. It plays roles in stem cell maintenance, melanocyte differentiation, and both central and peripheral gliogenesis and neurogenesis.
Sox10 regulates downstream proteins such as MASH1, PHOX2B, PDGF-alpha, and MITF in an expression-dependent manner. It is also expressed in multipotent vascular stem cells, melanomas, and gliomas.
The 20B7 antibody recognizes human and rat Sox10, and based on homology, should also recognize mouse Sox10.

Target Information
SOX10 is a member of the SOX (SRY-related HMG-box) family of transcription factors involved in embryonic development and cell fate determination. It may act as a transcriptional activator after forming complexes with other proteins and functions as a nucleocytoplasmic shuttle protein essential for neural crest and peripheral nervous system development. Mutations in SOX10 are associated with Waardenburg-Shah and Waardenburg-Hirschsprung diseases.
