Target Information
Pancreatic polypeptide (PP) is a 36 amino-acid peptide with structural homology to NPY and PYY. It is primarily expressed in the endocrine pancreas and released in response to cholinergic stimulation and food intake. PP inhibits gall bladder secretion, intestinal motility, and pancreatic secretion, and may serve as a marker for certain gut endocrine tumors such as carcinoid tumors.
