Target Information
GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질 패밀리에 속하며, 주로 중추신경계의 성상세포(astrocyte)와 특정 신경교세포에서 강하게 발현됩니다. 또한 신경줄기세포에서도 높은 수준으로 발현되어 astrocytic cell의 표지자로 활용됩니다. GFAP 발현은 다양한 뇌종양과 관련이 있으며, 렌즈 상피, 간의 Kupffer 세포, 타액선 종양 세포 등에서도 보고되었습니다. GFAP 유전자의 돌연변이는 Alexander disease를 유발할 수 있으며, 여러 전사체 변이로 인해 다양한 이소폼이 존재합니다.
