Target Information
MAP3K5 (ASK1) is a serine/threonine kinase abundantly expressed in human heart and pancreas. It is activated by various extracellular stimuli including cytokines, growth factors, and environmental stresses. ASK1 activates MAPKKs MKK4 and MKK6, leading to activation of JNK and p38 MAP kinases. It is involved in TNFR and Fas signaling through TRAF family and Daxx interactions. Overexpression induces apoptosis, while inactive ASK1 inhibits TNF-α-induced apoptosis. ASK1 is expressed in various human and mouse tissues.
