Product Specific Information

The 2B8 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD117 (c-Kit receptor, Steel factor receptor, stem cell factor receptor), a 145-kDa tyrosine kinase receptor expressed on hematopoietic progenitor cells, mast cells, and others.
Interaction with steel factor promotes proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Tested on mouse bone marrow cells; recommended ≤0.06 µg/test (100 µL final volume).
Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test (empirically determined).
Careful titration recommended.

Fluorochrome Information:
Super Bright 436 is excited by the violet laser (405 nm) and emits at 436 nm. Recommended filter: 450/50 bandpass.
Use Super Bright Complete Staining Buffer (Product # SB-4401) to minimize non-specific polymer interactions.

Target Information

KIT (c-KIT) is a proto-oncogene and type 3 transmembrane receptor for stem cell factor (SCF).
It regulates growth and activation of hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells.
Mutations are associated with gastrointestinal stromal tumors, mast cell disease, AML, and piebaldism.
Activation of KIT triggers downstream signaling pathways (PI3K, PLC-γ, JAK/STAT) essential for hematopoiesis, stem cell maintenance, and gametogenesis.
