Target Information
Ran/TC4-binding protein (RanBP1) interacts specifically with GTP-charged RAN. It binds to RAN complexed with GTP but not GDP, and enhances GTP hydrolysis by RanGAP1 without activating GTPase activity directly. The human RANBP1 protein (201 amino acids) shares 92% similarity with its mouse homolog and acts as a negative regulator of RCC1 by inhibiting RCC1-stimulated guanine nucleotide release from RAN.
