Antibody detects endogenous levels of Integrin beta 1 only when phosphorylated at Tyr783.
Target Information
ITGB1 (Integrin Subunit Beta 1, beta1 integrin subunit, GPIIa, CD29) is a 110 kDa cell surface glycoprotein widely expressed by various cells, including all leukocytes. It forms non-covalently linked heterodimers with at least six different alpha chains (alpha1–alpha6, CDa–f), determining the binding properties of beta1 (VLA) integrins.
ITGB1 functions as a cell adhesion molecule on platelets and as a component of protein complexes binding to extracellular matrix proteins. Decreased ITGB1 expression correlates with tumor cell multidrug resistance. It is up-regulated in leukocytes during emigration and migration, regulating immune cell trafficking.
ITGB1 also contributes to tissue damage and inflammatory bowel disease symptoms. Through ITGB1-dependent mechanisms, fibronectin and type I collagen enhance cytokine secretion of human airway smooth muscle in response to IL-1β.
Two major forms, beta1A and beta1D, differ by 13 amino acids and show tissue-specific distribution: beta1A in most tissues, beta1D in cardiac and skeletal muscle.
