Target Information
LIMK2 is a serine/threonine kinase involved in regulation of actin cytoskeletal changes via phosphorylation of cofilin. It is also implicated in brain development. LIMK2 contains two N-terminal LIM motifs and a C-terminal kinase domain, mediating protein-protein interactions. Activated by ROCK, LIMK2 phosphorylates cofilin, inhibiting actin depolymerization and contributing to Rho-induced cytoskeletal reorganization. Multiple transcript variants exist for LIMK2.
