Target Information
Neurofilaments are neuron-specific intermediate filament proteins that maintain neuronal caliber. They are composed of three major proteins: NF-L, NF-M, and NF-H. Expression of these proteins is tissue-specific and developmentally regulated. NF-H plays a critical role in mature axons and is associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
