Target Information
ERK1 and ERK2 are widely expressed and involved in the regulation of meiosis, mitosis, and postmitotic functions in differentiated cells. Various stimuli including growth factors, cytokines, virus infection, and G protein-coupled receptor ligands activate the ERK1/2 pathway. Upon activation, ERKs phosphorylate cytoplasmic targets or translocate to the nucleus to activate transcription factors such as c-Fos and Elk-1.
