Target Information

Podoplanin (PDPN, T1A, gp38, Aggrus) is a mucin type-1 glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 40–43 kDa.
It is expressed in various tumors and normal cells, notably in lymphatic epithelial cells and follicular dendritic cells.
Podoplanin localizes in stromal cells of peripheral lymphoid tissue and thymic epithelial cells.
It regulates lymphatic endothelium and plays a role in maintaining podocyte morphology.
Podoplanin serves as a ligand for CLEC-2, and its expression correlates with tumor invasiveness and metastatic potential.
It participates in cell migration, metastasis formation, and tumor cell invasion.
Expression is induced by Src activation of Cas and has been found on Th17 cells.
Dysfunction of podoplanin is linked to diseases such as lymphangioma and subglottic neoplasm, and it is proposed as a marker for lung injury.
