Product Specific Information

The JES5-16E3 antibody reacts with mouse interleukin-10 (IL-10), an ~18 kDa cytokine also known as Cytokine Synthesis Inhibitory Factor (CSIF). In mice, IL-10 is produced by Th2 cells, B1 cells, macrophages, and keratinocytes. It inhibits Th1 cytokine synthesis and T-cell proliferation while acting as a costimulatory signal for mast cells and developing thymocytes.

Target Information

IL-10 encodes a cytokine produced mainly by monocytes and some lymphocytes. It regulates immune responses and inflammation by down-regulating Th1 cytokines, MHC class II antigens, and costimulatory molecules on macrophages. IL-10 enhances B cell survival, proliferation, and antibody production, blocks NF-kappa B activity, and modulates the JAK-STAT pathway. Knockout studies indicate IL-10 is essential for intestinal immune regulation. Mutations are linked to increased susceptibility to HIV-1 infection and rheumatoid arthritis. Diseases associated with IL-10 include Graft-Versus-Host Disease and HIV-1 infection.
