Target Information
ARHGAP20 is a potent GTPase-activating protein (GAP) that converts Rho-type GTPases into an inactive GDP-bound state. It contains a pleckstrin homology (PH) domain, a Ras-associating domain, a Rho-GAP domain, and two Annexin-like (ANXL) repeats.
ARHGAP20 acts as a direct downstream target of Rap1 in neurite outgrowth; its overexpression leads to Rho inactivation, promoting neurite outgrowth in a Rap1-dependent manner.
This gene functions as a tumor suppressor and is known to be inactivated by deletion in breast cancer and by chromosomal translocation in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Reports suggest its involvement in cytoskeletal rearrangements and cell signaling during spermatogenesis.
Expression is predominant in human brain, liver, ovary, and spinal cord, with lower expression in lymph nodes and fetal liver.
