Product Specific Information

This erongr2 monoclonal antibody recognizes mouse early growth response 2 (Egr2, Krox-20). Egr2 is a zinc finger-containing transcription factor important for T cell and NKT cell development. It is predominantly expressed in the thymus and nervous system and is upregulated in T cells following TCR-crosslinking. Upregulation has also been observed in non-adherent mouse splenocytes after stimulation with PMA and ionomycin. Egr2 is believed to antagonize T cell activation and promote apoptosis. The erongr2 antibody modestly stains a subpopulation of T and B cells in freshly isolated spleen cells and does not cross-react with Egr3 based on immunoblot analysis.

Applications Reported: Intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Tested by intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis of stimulated mouse splenocytes using the Foxp3/Transcription Factor Staining Buffer Set (Product # 00-5523-00).
Use ≤ 0.25 µg per test (100 µL final volume). Cell number may range from 10⁵ to 10⁸ cells/test.
Optimize antibody titration for best results.

Target Information

The EGR2 gene encodes a transcription factor that binds DNA to regulate gene expression. It activates genes involved in myelin formation and maintenance, which is essential for efficient nerve impulse transmission. Mutations in EGR2 can cause Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1D or 4E, or severe Dejerine-Sottas syndrome, affecting myelin integrity and nerve conduction.
