Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with an extracellular epitope of CD80 (B7-1), a 60 kDa single chain type I glycoprotein of the immunoglobulin superfamily, expressed on professional antigen-presenting cells such as dendritic cells, macrophages, and activated B lymphocytes.
Target Information
CD80 (B7-1) and CD86 (B7-2) are ligands of the T-cell costimulatory molecule CD28 and the inhibitory receptor CTLA-4 (CD152). Both are expressed on antigen-presenting cells and are essential for T-cell activation. CD80 is rapidly induced on activated B cells, EBV-transformed B cell lines, Burkitt’s lymphoma cell lines, freshly isolated follicular lymphoma cells, T cells, and monocytes. CD80 provides regulatory signals to T lymphocytes through interactions with CD28 and CTLA4. Dysfunctions in CD80 are associated with diseases such as gallbladder squamous cell carcinoma and myocarditis.
