Product Specific Information
This antibody reacts with an extracellular class III epitope on CD34, a 110–115 kDa monomeric transmembrane phosphoglycoprotein expressed on hematopoietic progenitor and pluripotent stem cells. Expression is gradually lost during cell differentiation. The 4H11 [APG] clone completely blocks binding of class III antibodies BIRMA K3 and 8G12 on the KG1a cell line.
Target Information
CD34 is a highly glycosylated monomeric surface protein (111–115 kDa) expressed on various stem cell populations. It functions as a stem cell marker and may serve as a receptor mediating adhesion, differentiation, and proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells. CD34 expression represents a developmental stage with altered adhesion properties and differentiation potential. It may act as a scaffold for glycans, mediating interactions with lectins on stromal cells. The intracellular domain can be phosphorylated by protein kinase C, suggesting a role in signal transduction. CD34 dysfunction is associated with diseases such as dermatofibrosarcoma and neurofibroma.
