This product is preservative free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates for production.

This antibody specifically recognizes Human M-CSF/CSF-1.

Target Information

M-CSF (Macrophage colony-stimulating factor, CSF-1) is a survival factor essential for proliferation and development of monocytes, macrophages, and osteoclast progenitor cells. It also induces VEGF secretion by macrophages, mediating endothelial progenitor mobilization and neovascularization.

M-CSF exists in several bioactive isoforms differing in potency and stability. The full-length protein is synthesized as a membrane-spanning form, which can be cleaved and modified in secretory vesicles. It is a disulfide-bonded homodimer processed into glycoprotein or proteoglycan isoforms via chondroitin sulfate modification.

Binding of M-CSF to its receptor, c-Fms (CSF-1R or CD115), induces receptor dimerization, internalization, and degradation. Functionally, M-CSF stimulates differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells into monocyte–macrophage populations. M-CSF acts through CSF receptor 1. While human M-CSF is active on mouse cells, mouse CSF shows no activity on human cells.
