This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%) to avoid contamination.

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems clone specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits, followed by screening to select optimal clones for production.

This antibody specifically recognizes Human CD21.

Target Information

CD21 (complement receptor 2, CR2, C3D receptor, EBV receptor) binds C3 complement fragments that remain attached to complement-activating surfaces or antigens.
It plays key roles in:

• Uptake and retention of immunocomplexes
• Survival of memory B cells
• Development and maintenance of humoral responses to T-dependent antigens

CD21 also serves as a receptor for Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and is involved in prion targeting to follicular dendritic cells, facilitating neuroinvasion following peripheral exposure.
A soluble form (sCD21) retains ligand-binding ability.
CD21 interacts with CD23 and associates with CD19, CD81, and Leu13 to form a signal-transduction complex for B cell activation.
Genetic variations in the CD21 gene are linked to susceptibility to systemic lupus erythematosus type 9 (SLEB9).
Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms.
