Product Specific Information
Heat-mediated antigen retrieval is recommended prior to staining, using a 1 mM EDTA buffer (pH 8.0) for 10 minutes, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes. After antigen retrieval, incubate samples with primary antibody for 10 minutes at room temperature.
Suggested positive control: thymus or skin tissue.
Target Information
CD1a is a non-polymorphic MHC Class I-related cell surface glycoprotein expressed in association with Beta-2 microglobulin. It is found on cortical thymocytes, Langerhans cells, interdigitating cells, certain T-cell leukemias, and other tissues. CD1a mediates presentation of lipid and glycolipid antigens to T cells.
The human genome contains five CD1 family genes (CD1a, b, c, d, e) located on chromosome 1, differing in localization and ligand specificity. CD1a localizes to plasma membranes and early endocytic vesicles. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed, but their biological validity remains undetermined.
