Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).
Target Information
CDK8 phosphorylates the carboxy-terminal domain of the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II. This protein is coexpressed and copurified with Cyclin C. CDK8 belongs to the family of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs), which are critical regulators of cell cycle progression. Members such as p34/Cdc2 and Cdk2 act late in the cycle, while Cdk4 and Cdk6 regulate G1 to S transition. Human Cdk8–Cyclin C complex may interact with RNA polymerase, influencing transcription mechanisms that lead to cell division.
