Target Information

A phagocyte-type oxidase, similar to that responsible for producing reactive oxygen species (ROS) in neutrophil granulocytes, functions in the kidney as an oxygen sensor that regulates erythropoietin synthesis in the renal cortex.
NOX4 acts as a redox messenger in intracellular signaling pathways contributing to mitochondriogenesis, cell survival, and differentiation in hematopoietic stem cells.
Data suggests NOX4 links the insulin receptor to the generation of cellular reactive oxygen species, enhancing insulin signal transduction.
